i can't stand the rain
sunday and yesterday we had rehearsals for the adult advanced class. we repeatedly practiced our dance that we'll be performing in next week's recital to the song 'i can't stand the rain.' i also practiced this dance over and over in my bedroom in bare feet before going to bed late last night.
in my dream, we were performing 'i can't stand the rain'. i suddenly became aware of the not-so-subtle theme of the dance which had to do with gender and sexuality. i wondered how the audience would react. would it make them uncomfortable? was it appropriate to perform such a provocative piece at a recital where people were just expecting to be entertained rather than to have their ideas about sex and gender challenged so blatantly?
in real life the dance does no such thing. it's about the rain, and how we can't stand it (except in that one pitter-patter part where we kind of enjoy the rain for a moment).

Yeah, we enjoy it, but at the same time it makes us sadder....WHAT?
At least the new arms aren't quite as obvious. we don't actually have to 'catch' the raindrops.
our love/hate relationship with the rain is a bit confusing. perhaps we should ask for more acting tips!
so far we are 'soulful' rain love-haters who have an uncanny ability to express themselves through tap dance. but what's our motivation?
tag! you're it!

Wait...this dance ISN'T about gender and sexuality? I'm going to have to re-think my costume.
the eb chorus dance could be about gender and sexuality, what with all us ladies in drag and all.
