tappin' libby

i was in florida and found myself looking into a large room where a tap dance class was being taught. even though i was wearing my glasses everything was just a little blurry. the room was large and there was a small group of women learning to tap dance. in the group i saw my friend libby! she was moving and dancing around and looked very cute. it made me smile. everyone was doing a step, but she got into it and just kept going--moving backwards doing paddle and rolls (one of my favorites). she was just learning and hadn't yet invested in a pair of tap shoes and so she was dancing in birkenstocks.

the group of dancers then faced sideways (they previously had been facing away from me). another group of singers off to the right started singing and the tappers started dancing. first just some movement without tap that evolved into a tap dance. several of the women were wearing black leotards and short lycra shorts with flowy skirts. not at all how tap dancers i know dress! i thought to myself, 'well i am in florida'. i thought that explained it. libby, though, was just wearing normal clothes. cotton pants and a plaid shirt (i think) and her birks.

once again she was taken with the dance and kept going, moving away from the crowd. i thought it was adorable! her instructor corrected her, though, and encouraged her to stay with the group.

p.s. here you can see libby. not tap dancing, but ordering coffee!
